Lest we Forget

Red poppies are such happy looking flowers. They grow in abundance in the fields in Gallipoli, where many New Zealand and Australian soldiers (ANZAC) lost their lives. They have come to symbolise the great sacrifices that were made for our freedom. In New Zealand, ANZAC Day is a National Public Holiday - our version of Veteran's Day, where shops and houses are decorated with red poppies and we wear small paper versions on our lapels.
