Pohutakawa - New Zealand's Christmas Tree

The beautiful native NZ Pohutakawa tree has vibrant red flowers that start blooming in October/November - heralding the start of the long hot summers of the NZ North Island. The hundreds of beaches and bays around our coast are decorated with these gnarly giants - great for providing shade and thick branches for swings and hammocks!

I love the ocean - the repeated motion of the waves remind me of faithfulness. The water can be serene, turbulent, calming, awe inspiring, restful and life giving, beauty in every season, every day.
